With January being traditionally quiet, February is the busiest time of the year for recruitment companies as people look to make good on their new year resolutions and make a positive change in their life.

Set your goal – and be specific!
Don’t just declare – I’m going to get a new job. That’s like saying, I’m buying a new car. Have some specifics about what job you want to do, what you want from that job and even who you want to work for. Don’t generalize, have direction and set goals.
Re-energise your CV (and folio for Architects)
This is your passport to a new job, a ticket to the table. The landscape has changed and your CV needs to be perfect to get you past the first hurdle. Update your skills and experience, review and rewrite. Tailor it for the job. This is something we can assist with making sure it meets the grade. For Design candidates, you need to also ensure your folio is up to date showing samples of your ‘best projects’ (12 pages max). Once ready, store your CV (and folio) in the cloud so you can access it at any time.
Update your social media profiles
This is an opportunity to market yourself. If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile then get one. If you do, then update it, again highlighting core competencies and keywords that will make you appeal to an employer – and help them find you.
Stay in the know
If you want a new job then you must keep looking. Jobs in niche sectors can be placed with specialist recruiters such as us, so do your research. Use the internet, register for notifications and do likewise on LinkedIn. Explore all the avenues.
Don’t give up!
The job you want is out there, it just sometimes takes persistence to get it.
